At MISUMI USA, we love our engineers, each of them have unique skills and experiences to bring to the table. They are always prepared to help our internal and external customers with MISUMI style solutions. This week we decided to celebrate them, after all, February is the month of love and its Valentine’s Day week! If you’re lucky enough to have one in your life, grab that torque wrench and bolt them to your heart forever. Here are some of the many reasons why we love our engineers as well as why YOU should love an engineer. Be sure to contact our engineering department for any questions regarding our mechanical and electrical components!
- They will do all your math and know what all the buttons to press, on your calculator.
For many engineers, math comes very easily to them. You’ll never have to worry about taking out a calculator to determine your server’s tip on a dinner date with an engineer.
- There is no problem they cannot solve.
Engineers are great problem solvers. Whatever the problem they will get to the root of it and solve it. Whether reverse engineering a leaky faucet or creating a robot to make a chore easier, they can do anything.
- They are handy.
The can name every tool in their toolbox and know how to use them to their advantage. Perhaps they can even build a tool that fixes a broken tool, that’s how talented they are.
- They build bridges.
Well yes, bridges over water connecting 2 pieces of land and bridges connecting highways but do not forget the bridge to your heart. They will design the most beautiful bridge to your heart. Analyzing stresses and strains is their expertise, they will work to limit any unnecessary load on your shoulders.
- They strive for perfection and efficiency.
There is no tolerance or accuracy grade they cannot size up to. In fact, they will help you determine the correct hole fit tolerance for your shaft and bearing application. They will find methods to efficiently meet their goals. Time saved is money saved, after all, your time is priceless and they will use your time efficiently.
- They love cross-training in multiple disciplines.
You’ll find many engineers with experience in various industries from medical, electrical, construction and design. Talented, well-rounded, creative and motivated all traits of a great engineer to love.
- They are loyal.
It takes commitment to finish the 4-5 year engineering curriculum at a university. Many of the world’s greatest inventions were designed by the dedication of engineers. After all, it is the duty of an engineer to design with keeping the greater population’s safety and lives in mind.
- They can pull all-nighters.
Committing to a 4-5 year engineering curriculum and pulling those all-nighters before exams developed their ever-growing endurance and stamina. In their professional careers, huge projects certainly test that endurance limit and hitting the required deadlines. Because of this, they are not afraid of staying up all night to accomplish the end goal.
- They believe in quality, not quantity.
Quality is a priority for engineers. Quality procedures and quality product are force drivers for engineers. It is instinctual for them to circle back to the beginning to analyze each step in a procedure. Also, analyze a manufacturing operation to determine why a product went bad or didn’t pass inspection.
- They are nerdy.
We all know that nerdy is the new sexy. It’s really about passion and intelligence. Engineers are passionate about what they do and will talk your ear off about the latest project they’re working on. Let’s talk about laminar and turbulent flow baby! Let’s talk about the coefficient of fiction! Let’s talk about gothic arch and circular arc in that linear guide!
